Lindsay Ell Learns Right From Wrong

Success doesn't come overnight. Heard that one before?

Well it's especially true for country artists, according to Lindsay Ell. Her EP Worth The Wait was released a few weeks ago and she recently sat down to discuss her journey to Nashville and the new material. "As an artist I came to town really trying to find what I wanted to sound like," the Canadian explains in a new YouTube video. "And I think it took me years of doing the wrong thing to finally find the right thing." Watch below.

The EP release isn't the only thing causing excitement in Lindsay's life at the moment. The Canadian guitar extraordinaire had a pretty special 28th birthday recently. "I got a call a few weeks ago asking if I wanted to come and play with Melissa Etheridge," she tells Billboard of the occasion.

"They explained that Melissa had specifically asked if I would come and play with her. It turned out that it was the night of my birthday. I don’t usually work on my birthday. If I'm not on the road, I usually just catch up with friends, but since when does Melissa Etheridge ask you to come play a show with her?"

Ell jumped at the chance, of course. "Cam was there," she continues. "Melissa Etheridge sang 'Happy Birthday' to me. How much better can it get? She came up to me and told me, 'I am such a fan of what you do, and thank you for carrying on the torch of being a female musician and a female lead guitarist.' It was such an amazing moment."
