Hurricane Harvey devastated South Texas over the weekend, exacting a heavy toll on people and pets alike. Miranda Lambert, a proud Texan herself, is doing her part to help.

The reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year is sending her shelter-pet focused charity MuttNation Foundation to Texas to provide relief to Houston-area animal shelters dealing with an influx of critters displaced by the storm. "Our team is headed South!" says a post on the charity's Instagram page, which also includes pictures of MuttNation vehicles prepping for the trip. "It was important to our amazing founder ... that we do our part for her home state! We are headed to Houston to give relief to municipal shelters. We will help transport any animals currently in shelters so that there is room for displaced animals from Hurricane Harvey! Plus any other support we can offer! You can help our efforts by donating!" Lambert started the charity in 2009 with mother Bev. Donations can be made here.

The superstar joins Chris Young and other country stars in donating time, money or services to help out in Harvey's aftermath. She grew up in Lindale, a town of 6,000 less than four hours north of Houston.
