Brantley Gilbert Flexes His Songwriting Muscle

Brantley Gilbert is carving out quite a songwriting career for himself. He's done it, he says, by surrounding himself with great songwriters and avoiding "throwaways."

The "Bottoms Up" singer wrote 25 of the 26 songs on his latest album, something he credits in part to collaborating with other great writers. "That's one of the upsides to writing with the writers that I write with – we don't write throwaways," he explains through his record label. "And this is something I've always been all about, and I think the majority of the people that have written with me [in] the past, I'd say five years, will tell you [is that] if we get a verse and a line into the chorus and I'm not feeling it, it's just done. If it's not good it's not good."

Sometimes it is good, though, and Brantley simply stays with it. "I'm feeling something, we're gonna rock that thing on through," he continues. "I don't care if it takes 10 hours or 10 weeks for 10 months. You know, we'll figure it out. We'll make it right."
