Jason Aldean was absent from the 51st Annual CMA Awards this week, sparking some on social media to ask why.

The superstar was on stage when the shooting began at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas October 1st, but was nowhere to be found at Wednesday night’s (11/8) celebration. Social media was abuzz with speculation.

Jason is the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year (the CMA’s organizational counterpart), but wasn’t nominated for a CMA award this year. As of this writing, his last Twitter post came on November 1st celebrating a Halloween party he apparently attended. His next scheduled performance is this weekend (11/12) as part of the Country Rising benefit concert Nashville, which takes place at the same venue that hosted the CMA Awards. For what’s worth, Blake Shelton and Kenny Chesney were also absent from Wednesday night’s (11/8) celebration.
