The common narrative these days is that country stars won't talk about politically tinged issues like gun control. Those country stars aren't Tim McGraw or Faith Hill, however. The couple addresses the issue head on in a new and candid interview in Billboard.

Tim and Faith all for gun control, in fact. "Look, I'm a bird hunter – I love to wing-shoot," Tim says at one point. "However, there is some common sense that's necessary when it comes to gun control. They want to make it about the Second Amendment every time it's brought up. It's not about the Second Amendment."

Faith shares her husband's thinking. "In reference to the tragedy in Las Vegas, we knew a lot of people there," she adds. "The doctors that [treated] the wounded, they saw wounds like you'd see in war. That's not right. Military weapons should not be in the hands of civilians. It's everyone's responsibility, including the government and the National Rifle Association, to tell the truth. We all want a safe country."

The artists' now-public position arguably makes them the most outspoken country stars yet on the issue, which continues to be debated in the media at at dinner tables across America.

There's much more to the Billboard story, though. Tim & Faith are remarkably candid about the time they first met, Tim's tumultuous childhood, and their respective families, careers and current tour. Read more here.
