Country legend Mel Tillis passed away at a hospital in Florida on Sunday morning.
At the time of his death, he was 85 years old.
A spokesman for Tillis confirmed his passing, citing intestinal issues and respiratory failure as the likely cause of death.
During his country music career, he wrote songs for Kenny Rogers, George Strait, and many other notable country stars. Additionally, Tillis released dozens of albums and had several songs make their way up the charts.
According to News Channel 12, the Tillis family will release information soon regarding funeral arrangements.
