Google is working to make YouTube a safer environment for creatives.
By 2018, the media company is looking to hire at least 10,000 people to address offensive or problematic content on YouTube’s platform, according to CNN Money. This includes nasty comments.
The CEO of YouTube Susan Wojcicki says in her YouTube Blog that “Human reviewers remain essential to both removing content and training machine learning systems because human judgment is critical to making contextualized decisions on content.”
Currently, at least in the case of uploading content to YouTube, bots take care of alerting you to copyright infringement and other sorts of terms of service violations, but when it comes to the personality aspect, having a human in charge of weeding out some of the commentaries may be for the best.
Additionally, they are looking to revamp their ad structure to make sure that the proper ads run with the videos that are being shown, and that reflect the values of the video content that is being shown.
We will be waiting to see what changes are made by 2018 in the infrastructure.
