Carrie Underwood has lost one of her hometown friends.
The town of Checotah, Oklahoma is mourning the loss of assistant police chief Justin Durrett.
Durrett, 35, passed away on February 26 — Weeks after enduring a tragic car accident while driving in harsh winter weather conditions.
According to Rare Country, at the time of the wreck, Underwood’s friend was not wearing his seat belt. As a result, he was ejected from the vehicle and was trapped under the truck after it rolled on top of him.
Durrett is survived by his parents, girlfriend, and two children.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family to help them during this difficult time. To help with medical expenses, Underwood placed a donation of $10,000.
Please keep Durrett and the town of Checotah in your thoughts and prayers tonight.
