The Senate, the United States, and the world are lesser places without John McCain. Nothing will overcome the loss of Senator McCain, but so that generations remember him I will be introducing a resolution to rename the Russell building after him.

John McCain so warmly welcomed me to the Senate in '13. Our later private meeting in his office remains 1 of my most inspiring moments as a Senator. Death may end a life but it can never end a love. John Loved America: his impact will forever endure. RIP https://t.co/c340f06GzB

Senator John McCain was an American patriot and hero whose sacrifices for his country, and lifetime of public service, were an inspiration to millions. Canadians join Americans tonight in celebrating his life and mourning his passing.
Many journalists remember Sen. McCain from his "straight-talk-express" campaign for POTUS in 2000. I prefer to recall his "no surrender" tour that led to his nomination eight years later. He ran on the Iraq surge and he was right. Took guts. He had guts.
I had the honor of covering Senator McCain in 2000 - & in his 2008 Presidential run and ever since on Capitol Hill. He was an American hero - a maverick - and someone who could move the ball on both sides of the aisle. There should be more John McCains -there aren't yet.
When I traveled to Vietnam last year, I was determined to visit the Hanoi Hilton where John McCain had been held prisoner for 5 1/2 years. He once wrote an account of his experience in captivity. Here is that amazing story of courage. https://t.co/TRu57vK253
John McCain greets President-elect Barack Obama on Jan. 19, 2009 before a bi-partisan dinner on the eve of the inauguration. Respect runs both ways.
John McCain's life was like something out of a Hollywood movie script - he was a naval officer and a jet pilot, a war hero and politician. He died today at 81 https://t.co/pdln1hAMyQ
