Tiger Woods took home the Green Jacket on Sunday, after winning The Masters. Despite being one of the greatest golfers of all time, it had actually been an astonishing 11 years since his last Major championship!

That came on June 16, 2009 as Tiger captured the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in San Diego. Since then, Tiger has experienced a roller-coaster of a life, with personal battles in his marriage, a very public DUI, and four back surgeries. Many, including Tiger himself, thought he may never play the game again – let alone win the tournament he’s become most associated with.

Let’s take a look back at what else was going on the last time Tiger raised a major championship trophy:

Top Country Song: “I’m Still a Guy” by Brad Paisley

Gas Prices: $4.11 a gallon (you’ll remember this was the year gas prices hit record highs)

President: George W. Bush was leading the United States

Top Movie: The Incredible Hulk surged to a huge opening weekend, giving the green one the win over Kung Fu Panda
