  • As the trade tensions between the U.S. and China increase, going to the store may get a lot more expensive.
  • Recently, President Trump added a 25 percent tariff on $200 billion worth of Chinese imports, and China hit back by adding 25 percent duties on $60 billion worth of U.S. goods. Experts believe the burden will hit U.S. consumers the hardest.
  • The new tariffs will mostly like increase the prices for items such as luggage, mattresses, food, and cleaning products, within the next month or so. Additional tariffs could also affect sporting goods, camping equipment, shoes, clothing, and consumer electronics.
  • So what should you start buying now? Experts say to get ahead of the tariffs you should purchase back to school items now if you’re planning to buy a new TV or smartphone purchase that now as well. It is also recommended that you stock up on paper goods, diapers, etc.
