The Batman has announced a new member to its cast with Paul Dano coming on board as the Riddler.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Dano’s version of the Riddler will go by the name Edward Nashton. In the comic version of Batman, the character would later go by the name Edward Nygma. The Riddler was famously portrayed by Frank Gorshin and John Astin on the iconic 1960’s Batman TV series. In film, Jim Carrey portrayed the popular villain in 1995’s Batman Forever.

Dano joins the previously announced casting choices of Robert Pattinson as Batman and Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner Gorden. Zoe Kravitz was recently announced as being cast as Catwoman.

Dano is best known for his film roles in 2006’s Little Miss Sunshine, 2013’s 12 Years a Slave and 2014’s Love & Mercy, where he was nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Motion Picture for his portrayal of The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson.
