Performing at the Super Bowl is a huge honor for any artist in any musician. But it’s also a tough gig. In Luke Bryan’s case, when he sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl in 2017, it was a massive cause of stress.

As Bryan told Jimmy Fallon on Monday night (October 28), his friends didn’t appreciate the stress he was under, trying to convince him to “Do jägerbombs all night” with them before his performance.

He recalled that they would call him to say, “Hey man, we’re partying tonight, come to this bar!”

“And I’m like, ‘Guys, I’m performing in front of 125 million people on Sunday.'”

“They’re like, ‘Aw man, no fair. You’ve changed.'”

He also noted that his friends went to Vegas to bet on aspects of his performance. “They were in Vegas trying to bet on the time of the Anthem. ‘Hey man, are you wearing a hat or not?’ “Is it 2:11 or 2:12?'”
