‘This Is Us’ Writer Jas Waters Dead At 39
Writer, journalist, and television personality, Jas Waters (also known as Jas Fly) has passed away at the age of 39. The news of Waters’ death was confirmed by the official Twitter account of This Is Us Writers, the hit NBC television show that she wrote for.
“The entire #ThisIsUs family was devastated to learn of Jas Waters passing,” the statement, which was released on Wednesday (June 10), read. “In our time together, Jas left her mark on us and ALL over the show. She was a brilliant storyteller and a force of nature. We send our deepest sympathies to her loved ones. She was one of us. RIP.”

During Waters’ career, she also wrote for Showtime’s Kidding and worked on VH1’s The Breaks, as well as Comedy Central’s Hood Adjacent With James Davis. Waters also starred on VH1’s The Gossip Game and wrote a column for Vibe.
Many celebrities, writers, and media representatives took to social media to mourn the loss of Waters, including This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman, Issa Rae, Mandy Moore, Tamron Hall, and John Mayer.
