FORT PIERCE, FLORIDA - AUGUST 02: Luz Lopez enjoys the wind and waves kicked up by Tropical Storm Isaias as it passes through at Jetty Park on August 02, 2020 in Fort Pierce, Florida. The storm is brushing along the east coast of Florida and tropical storm conditions will extend northward along the coasts of Georgia and South Carolina. ()

As of Monday morning, Tropical Storm Isaias was picking up speed off the coast of Georgia and heading for an expecting for an expected landfall near the border of North Carolina and South Carolina sometime late Monday night.

Because of increased speed, Isaias may not have enough time to restrengthen to hurricane status before landfall, but impacts are expected to be strong regardless. Most of Southeastern North Carolina is under a Tropical Storm Warning, and wind and rain is already moving into the area, according to the National Weather Service Raleigh.

Please note that because of COVID-19, typical storm prep is NOT enough. Check out our special storm ready prep page to get the latest information on how to have your family ready in case of emergency.

Several stores around the area are closing early in anticipation of the storm, including Walmart in Hope Mills.
