This past weekend, Luke Combs came home and played his first-ever headlining stadium concert at his alma mater.

Playing to a sold-out crowd of over 32,000 at Kidd Brewer Stadium on the campus of Appalachian State University, Combs told the story of how it all started for him when his friend came to his dorm and invited him to attend an Eric Church concert.

Eric Church is a hero of Combs’ and to pay homage to his hero and fellow Appalachian State alum it was only fitting that he sang Church’s “Carolina” during his encore.
