Sarah here, with a picture perfect spaghetti sauce recipe for you!

If you know me at all, you know I love to cook. Mostly out of necessity is how I started to learn to cook. My mom was a huge cook, my step-mom is a huge cook, and both of them have influenced me greatly to try new things.

Mostly I try to stick to chicken and fish, or try to stick to as much vegetarian as I can, but I can't help but love those comfort foods that my family made me growing up.

So today, because it's been so cold outside, I'm going to make my step-mom's recipe that she gave me for homemade spaghetti sauce.

Ingredients

1 lb. hot italian sausage
1 lb. sweet italian sausage
1 green bell pepper
2 small yellow onions
2 cloves garlic
2 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. italian seasoning
oregano
salt
sugar
crushed red pepper
Large cans of crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and petite diced tomatoes
Small can of tomato paste

Step 1 - Get Your Sausage!

Again, 1 lb. each of hot and sweet Italian sausages, ground.

Step 2 - Get Your Onions & Peppers

Chop your 2 yellow onion and green bell pepper.

Step 3 - Brown That Meat!

In a pan, brown your hot and sweet Italian sausage until fully cooked. Drain the grease and set aside.

Step 4 - Cook Those Veggies!

In a Dutch oven or large soup pot, over medium heat, cook olive oil, pepper, and onion. Add garlic and cook a minute or two until the onions are soft.

Step 5 - Add In Your Sausage

Add the cooked sausage to your pot and stir. (Just ignore that the videos are out of order here. ;) )

Step 6 - Add Your Tomatoes!

Now add your cans of crushed tomatoes, petite diced tomatoes, and tomato sauce. Stir to combine.

Step 7 - Season Up!

Then add your Italian seasoning and oregano. Heat through.

Step 8 - Tomato Paste Time

Now add your tomato paste and stir to combine.

Step 9 - Sugar and Salt and All Things Nice

Once mixed through, add salt, sugar, and crushed red pepper to taste.

Step 10 - Boil and Simmer

Bring to a low boil, then cover with a lid and let simmer on low-med heat for a few hours, stirring occasionally.

Step 11 - Serve With Pasta and Enjoy!
