Toby Keith, 60, announced on social media Sunday that he was diagnosed with stomach cancer last fall and has spent the past six months in treatment.

"Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer. I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover, and relax. I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can't wait."

Toby's appearance at the upcoming Ohio State Fair has been canceled, per the Fair's twitter account. He has a number of other upcoming concert appearances listed on his website, including one next weekend, which will likely be canceled, but there have not been announcements about those shows yet.

Toby's most recent album was last year's highly acclaimed Peso In My Pocket.

Country music stars by nature are very patriotic and often play for military either in the states or at various USO and Army bases around the world.

As we celebrate the Fourth of July this week, we put together some shots of country music stars paying tribute to our country and those who have fought for our freedoms.
