Big news for the Big 95.7 KML this morning, as the station was nominated for the Country Music Association Small Market Station of the Year award.
"I'm very proud of the hard work and dedication of everyone on the KML team," Regional Operations Manager Tee Gentry said. "The entire team for Beasley Media in Fayetteville has worked incredibly hard to make this station great for our listeners and the community."
WKML is up against four other stations for Small Market Station of the Year, including another Beasley Media Group station, Kicks 99 in Augusta. WCOW in LaCrosse, Wisconsin; WXBQ in Johnson City, Tennessee; and WXFL in Florence, Alabama were the other three finalists.
"We love bringing Fayetteville and the rest of our region the best stories and music every day," said Sarah Weaver, Assistant Programming Director and Music Director, and co-host of The Big Wake Up Show with Don Chase & Sarah. "It's such a treat to celebrate this nomination alongside our listening family, who help to make this the best place for country music in North Carolina."
Stations are selected based on a number of criteria, including community service, station ratings, Country Music industry leadership, and how the on-air talent sound on the station.
"Our team is so good at making sure our listeners truly feel a part of our family," Gentry said. "And we're so proud to be such a key part of Country Music in this community."
The winners will be announced November 9 in the CMA's annual awards show. The full list of musical nominees is available here.

I am sure you have heard the saying "music is the soundtrack to our lives." Just ask anyone to name their favorite singer or band and depending on their generation, they may reach over and show you the actual vinyl album or cassette or compact disc.
For many of us, some of our sweetest memories center around our younger days of vinyl records, record players, liner notes or lyrics and singing along or listening into the wee hours of the morning. Sweet memories. I am very fortunate to own a working 8-track tape player along with several that were favorites of my Father.
Rolling Stone's list has music from pretty much every era on it. Check out that entire list here.
It's hard to compare modern country to extremely classic country, but they do a pretty good job of it with this list.
Let's take a look at the top of the chart, with Taylor Swift in the modern era, all the way back to some great 60s and 70s favorites.
