Carrie Underwood Kicks Off Fall Tour With Aerial Acrobatics

Carrie Underwood kicked off her new arena tour, “Demin & Rhinestones,” on Saturday night (10/15) with a sold-out show at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in Greenville, South Carolina. 

 Carrie’s nearly two-hour set featured songs from her new album, Denim & Rhinestones, including lead single “Ghost Story,” where she traveled from the arena’s main stage on a florally adorned swing reminiscent of the one featured in the song’s cinematic music video. 

She also performed other fan favorites, including “She Don’t Know” and “Crazy Angels,” which again brought her high above the crowds, delivering vocals while performing aerial acrobatics within a suspended sphere-shaped apparatus. The packed arena went wild when Carrie brought Jimmie Allen onstage to join her for a duet – and a bit of dancing – on the album’s title track, “Denim & Rhinestones.”

Other show highlights brought her to new heights with impressive lifts and aerial stunts throughout the night, in addition to pyrotechnics that punctuated songs with flare and new live spins on her classic hits.

Her cover of Guns N’ Roses’ “Welcome to the Jungle” electrified the crowd just months after she welcomed Axl Rose as a surprise guest during her headlining set at Stagecoach in May, followed by her surprise performance during the band’s U.K. shows at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London in July.

With dates in Fall 2022 and Spring 2023, the tour will make stops in 43 U.S. cities, including New York’s Madison Square Garden, Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena, and L.A.’s Crypto.com Arena, before concluding in Seattle on March 17. Underwood is joined on tour by special guest Jimmie Allen on all dates. 

 $1 from each ticket sold for the tour will be contributed to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (t2t.org), which has been helping America’s heroes since 9/11 by providing mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first responder families with young children and by building custom-designed smart homes for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders. 

 Underwood, who has been nominated for three CMA Awards, including Entertainer of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Musical Event of the Year (for multi-week #1 smash hit “If I Didn’t Love You” with Jason Aldean), will resume her ongoing “REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency” at the Resorts World Theatre in 2023.

• 22. “I Told You So” (featuring Randy Travis) (2009)

  Randy Travis first recorded this song for his 1983 "Live at the Nashville Palace" under his stage name at the time, "Randy Ray." Travis re-recorded it for his Always & Forever album and released it as a single. It was a big hit. Carrie released a cover version of the song on her 2007 album, Carnival Rida and she later did this duet version with Randy.

  A beautiful blend of two amazing voices. Carrie said of the song, co-written by Legend, "I was deep into making the album, and this one kind of came in. He sent it to us kind of at the end. It was like, 'Well, I love the song. I feel like this is a puzzle piece I didn't know was missing, but now that I've heard it, I have to have it. And so, we just put the ask back, 'Thank you for sending, do you want to sing a part with me, too?'"
• 16. “All-American Girl” (2008)

  The song centers around a "beautiful, wonderful, perfect all-American girl." The first verse tells the story of a father hoping for a baby boy to continue his legacy, but "when the nurse came in with a little pink blanket, all those big dreams changed." In an interview with CMT, Carrie said of the song, "I think to every woman, this song would be telling a story about someone they know or met or has tried to pick them up in a bar.
