Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde were first-time Grammy winners at last night's (2/5) Grammy Awards. The pair could not have been happier.

Backstage after the Best Duo/Group Performance win for "Never Wanted To Be That Girl," Carly was in disbelief. "I still can't believe I'm here, so I'm having a bit of an out-of-body experience." She said, "Country music is my whole heart. I feel so lucky that I get to be here and to get to be one of the people that represent our genre. And also to see a song like this one – it's about real life and about some uncomfortable situations – to see it win is a real big testament to three chords and the truth. Let's go."

Pearce also learned shortly after the win that she and McBryde made history. She said, "We just learned that this is the first time that all females have won this award in this particular category. I always loved Ashley's music. I just was a fan and asked her if she'd write a song with me. So, to see this song do what it's done. And just continue to show the girls that are coming up behind us that you can write your truth and you can do everything that you want in this business. I feel very, very lucky, and to do it with somebody that I respect so much as an artist and as a person."

Ashley talked to the Grammy interviewer after her win, she said after being asked what's next for her. "It's time to release new music, and I know we just released 'Lindeville' back in September, but it's time. There's a new single coming at the end of February." McBryde added, "I will be tracking Carly down. There will be some wine. I bought cupcakes yesterday just in case, and I feel like wine and cupcakes is a perfectly acceptable celebration."

Country music stars shined on the red carpet and on the Grammy stage last night (2/5) in Los Angeles.

With a big night and first-time Grammy wins for Carly Pearce and Ashley McBryde, the night proved to be career highlights for the two who won the Best Country Duo/Performance for "Never Wanted To Be That Girl."

It was also a memorable night for Luke Combs, who made his first-ever Grammy performance, and Chris Stapleton, along with Stevie Wonder, who made for one of the evening's best performances. Kacey Musgraves impressed as she sang "Coal Miner's Daughter" while playing Loretta Lynn's actual guitar in leading the tribute to those we lost in the music industry in 2022, which included Lynn, Naomi Judd, and Olivia Newton-John.

Let's take a look at country music at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
