Another big North Carolina Education Lottery winner coming out of Fayetteville, as Shaquille Johnson won a $421,434 jackpot in Monday’s Cash 5 drawing.

Johnson got his Quick Pick ticket at the Short Stop on Morganton Road in Fayetteville.

“My heart was beating so fast,” Johnson sold NCEL. “I just froze.”

Johnson is a 27-year-old line cook and said he likes playing when the jackpot gets higher. He checked his results after work Monday night and almost missed his big win.

“I saw the jackpot was back down to $100,000 so I figured someone else won,” he laughed. “I was just thinking, ‘Wow. This is amazing. I was in total shock.”

After required state and federal tax withholdings, Johnson took home $300,272 Tuesday, which he plans to spend on a car and a house.”
