North Carolina State Fair Named A Best In The Country
Wide Open Country recently listed the 20 best state fairs in the country, and a North Carolina destination was included in the feature.
“So many families throughout the United States make it a tradition to attend their local county fair each year,” they explain. With each event typically spanning a few days or weeks, state fairs are certainly events you mark down on the calendar. In addition, depending upon your whereabouts, states often hold their fairs during different months of the year. So, if you are a true enthusiast, you can even travel to visit other fairs in outside regions.
Each state fair also contains its own flavor. From neighborhood musicians performing to customized state flag competitions to food trucks that cook up local cuisines, these fairs are an excellent opportunity to showcase some hometown pride.
The North Carolina event named among the best state fairs in the country is still something we have to look forward to this year.
State Fair in Raleigh
Beginning Thursday, October 12, and going all the way until Sunday, October 22, the North Carolina State Fair in Raleigh is guaranteed fun.
“Organized by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, there is definitely a focus on the local farms in the community in addition to the carnival rides and exhibits,” Wide Open Country points out.
This year there will be a home chef challenge, Blue Ribbon competitions, and livestock shows. Their website gives directions on the best way to travel to the fair from every area of North Carolina. Aside from the opening day (which is October 12), the gates open at 9 am. The fair then goes until 11 pm (midnight on Friday and Saturday).
If you are wondering what is new this year, there will be a free bird show, Rock-It the Robot will be onsite and new food vendors will be announced soon.
