Scotty McCreery has come a long way since his days of growing up in Garner, North Carolina, and his invitation to join the Grand Ole Opry over the weekend shows just how far that journey has come.

McCreery talked with The Big Wake Up's Don Chase and Sarah this week, coming no the heels of the surprise moment in Nashville.

"I'll be reliving this moment for a long time," McCreery said. "A lifelong dream of mine came true. I have not stopped smiling since Saturday night."

And if you think any of it was staged, think again. Scotty said he was genuinely surprised.

"It was not on my radar - at all - for it to happen Saturday night," he said. "I love the Opry and I try to get there as much as I can, and always in the back of my head I'm thinking 'Maybe tonight it will happen.'"

When Garth came up on stage, Scotty knew what was happening though, and the video shows that magical moment.

You've got a chance to see Scotty on stage again soon, as he'll be in concert at the Durham Performing Arts Center in February. We'll have your shot at tickets starting on December 11, with Don Chase & Sarah.

It's been a huge year for McCreery, as he was also inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in October of 2023.  Past inductees include Eric Church, John Coltrane, Charlie Daniels, Andy Griffith, Ronnie Milsap, Theloneous Monk, Kellie Pickler, Earl Scruggs, Nina Simone, James Taylor, Randy Travis, Doc Watson and many more.

He's also got a new Christmas song, "Feels Like the Holidays," his first Christmas release in 11 years.

Sarah’s Monday Playlist: Dylan Marlowe and Dylan Scott, Cody Johnson, and Dustin Lynch

Oh hi there! I'm happy to bring back another Monday Playlist for you to indulge in. And trust me, your ears will thank you.

Dylan Marlowe was kind enough to perform at our Stars & Guitars in early November, and I've been keeping my ears open to his music since discovering him earlier this year. He's written for other artists you know and love but is making a path of his own. Some people just have "IT"... and you don't always know what "IT" is. Dylan has "IT"! I can see him taking this format by storm and delivering hit after hit. He's kind, he's talented and he's got a great mind for writing and singing country music. He teamed up with another famous Dylan we know and love and made a smash!

Cody Johnson's latest album Leather dropped November 3rd. The best part is it's an easy listen. Cody is so distinctly country and can make any song sound like the personal anthem you've been craving. When I listened to the album for the first time top to bottom, the song Dirt Cheap hit me emotionally in ways I did not see coming! I highly recommend not driving or operating heavy machinery while listening to this particular song. The tears were flowing pretty quickly! But man is it worth it for this man's voice to tell you a story.

And lastly, Dustin Lynch also recently released a new album Killed The Cowboy, with the first song being of the same name. I loved this sound for Dustin. It's so different from other songs he's put out and the production was a standout. It definitely provides the sultry, mysterious feeling. Along with the message of Killed The Cowboy, it's just a great great song from Dustin Lynch.
