Getty ImagesIf 2023 has taught us anything, it's that AI can be used in some pretty odd (and at times disturbing) ways. But the company Handwrytten has found a way to harness the power of A.I. for good for the holiday season. With the help of "robot elves", Santa can now send cheerful Christmas cards to all children around the world!
The idea behind this card-giving service was explained by Handwrytten CEO David Wachs. "Santa reached out to us a couple months ago, and he asked us to help him with his holiday cards," Wachs mentioned in an interview with Scripps News. "He's just a little long in the beard these days; he doesn't have much time."
It's a mission that the company takes extremely seriously. As you can see on their website, they're pulling out all the stops to infuse holiday magic into each card.
Every letter will come with the following features:
- The Elf's Gold Seal of Approval
- North Pole Address (123 Elf Road, North Pole 88888)
- Signature Santa Font Typeface
- Infusion of Delightful Peppermint Scent
- Sprinkle of Snowflakes
After delicately designing each letter, the company then seals them in a specially-crafted envelope, with Santa Claus' name penned in festive red ink.
Any parents or guardians who wish to send their child a special letter from Santa can sign up for the service here. Handwrytten is even accepting the first 6,000 requests absolutely free of charge. You need to hurry though. There's only about 1,200 free cards still available at the time of this article.
I won't lie, the advent of A.I. in recent years has, at best, confused me, and at worst completely terrified me. But this may be a rare instance in which I'm on the side of the robots. If we can utilize the potential of artificial intelligence to spread some Christmas magic, you'd have to be a pretty big grinch to say no to that.
