My friend, please save the date of Saturday, January 27, 2024. This will be a really special day in Cumberland County as the Massey Hill Lions Club will hold their 51st annual "Shucking For Sight" Oyster Roast. The event takes place from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Massey Hill Lion's Club at 1613 Camden Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina 28306. Tickets for the annual all-you-can-eat event are only $50 each and includes the most delicious oysters ever, the crackers, the hush puppies, all the sauces, iced tea and/or water.

Now, there are a few ground rules. This is a dine-in event only and there will not be any to-go containers.

All of the money raised will be donated to the Lions Cottage at The Boy's and Girl's Home at Lake Waccamaw, North Carolina. Mr. Tom Lamont, Director of Community Engagement for the home told me that the Lion's Cottage is an aging facility that was built in 1960 and due to its age and condition, the funds raised during the Massey Hill Lions Club Oyster Roast will help in a big way with the much needed renovations to the facility.

May I encourage you to buy your tickets as soon as possible because the deadline to buy tickets is January January 17, 2024. To buy tickets, contact any Massey Hill Lions Club member. You can also call Scott at 910-494-0809 or Denny at 910-813-0262.

You can also stop by the Massey Hill Drugstore and buy tickets Monday through Saturday. That address is 1072 Southern Avenue in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Tickets can also be purchased at Classic Coiffures, 3710 Morganton Road in Fayetteville, North Carolina Monday through Saturday.

Also for individuals or businesses, why not be a sponsor of this year's Massey Hill Lions Club Oyster Roast? Sponsorships are still available and all you have to do is contact any member of the Massey Hill Lions Club.

Sarah’s Monday Playlist: Tigirlily Gold, Tim McGraw and Zach Bryan

Happy 2024! Let's get this new year started right with another Monday playlist. Per usual, these are songs both old and new that I've been listening to lately and can't get enough of.

With a strong entrance to 2024, we have the dynamic duo of Tigirlily Gold. Two sisters that we had the pleasure of hosting here in our very own Studio B sessions. I Tried A Ring On is a song they've been sitting on for a while. I had the honor of hearing it a while back, and I remember thinking "This is it. This is the song." It's one that I can imagine crying to and singing along with live in concert. It's relatable, catchy, and so beautifully produced. I LOVE this song!

Tim McGraw is a superstar in Country music. He helped define the 90s and he proves to this day why he still has lasting sustainability. One Bad Habit reminds me of some of his earlier work but with a modern touch. Tim tiptoes that line of familiarity while experimenting with what works in our more modern sound. This is a solid single from Tim and I look forward to seeing how it does at Country radio. This song and others are available on his EP Poet's Resume.

And last but not least, Zach Bryan has been taking the world by storm and proving that his talent is a sight to behold. I'll admit I'm a bit biased for choosing the song Sarah's Place. But to be fair, I really do like the tune! Plus it includes one of my favorite currents artists out there right now, Noah Kahan. The two of them collaborating together on a song with my name in the title?? Heaven! Pinch me! I hope you find it catchy as well!

Let me know your favorites and what songs you can't get enough of!
