Success Lessons from Kevin Hart, The Brothers Osborne, and Beyonce
Today’s Kick Butt Tip of the Day about success lessons comes from comedian and actor Kevin Hart. “The hardest thing in the world is to get up every day and to give 100 percent. And you give that 100% even though you are in the same position that you were. But mentally, you know that you and trying and trying and trying. That is a real grind.”
When I read these words, it instantly took me back to a success quote from many years ago. “You might give out. Just don’t give up.”
In the world of Country music and probably in any music format, there are so many stories about overnight successes that took years.
John Osborne of The Brothers Osborne says that he and his band mates probably drove at least 100,000 miles playing all over the country before any kind of success knocked on his door. John said he just kept working night after night. Years later he and his brother T.J. Osborne would form The Brothers Osborne. Then in 2015, the duo released a song called “Stay A Little Longer.” The tune quickly became one of the 5 hottest Country songs in the nation. The key point is, The Brothers Osborne kept working even though they did not have any success to show for it.
Currently, the name Beyonce seems to be on everyone’s lips. With over 17 million albums sold and a brand new Country album, life is good for Beyonce. That was not always the case. In 1990, Beyonce was a member of a group called Girl’s Tyme. Six years later, Girl’s Tyme competed on tv’s Star Search. Sadly they lost the competition but still they were able to sign a recording contract with Columbia Records. Shortly after signing, there were internal issues between members of the group. Two members left the group. Beyonce could have followed her friends out the door and pursued another profession. But, she stuck it out, kept singing and today is worth an estimated half-a-billion dollars.
Kevin Hart said it, “the hardest thing in the world is to get up every day and give 100 precent.” Yes it is hard, but do it anyway.
