In November of 2023, Elizabethtown Fire Department firefighter Randy Jones was severely burned. When rescuers arrived, they discovered that Jones suffered serious burns to his torso. Those on the scene estimate that the burns affected nearly half of his upper body. As of this writing, details as to how Jones was burned have not been released.
What we do know is that when rescue personnel arrived, they immediately began to treat Jones. Once Jones was stabilized, he was airlifted via medical air ambulance to The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical Center and placed in the Burn Center for care.
