Caitlin Clark Inspiring Others With “Believe In Yourself” Attitude

An awesome young lady by the name of Caitlin Clark gives us today's Kick Butt Tip of the Day. If you follow Women's college basketball like I do, you no doubt know that Caitlyn led her Iowa Buckeyes to the championship game recently. During this past Monday's WNBA draft, Caitlin, as expected, was the top overall pick. Caitlin will be wearing an Indiana Fever jersey next season.

In my many years of being a basketball fan, there have only been a few players that really caught and kept my attention. A few of the names include Michael Jordan, Steph Curry and Kevin Durant when he was at the top of his game. As of 2024, the name of Caitlin Clark has been added to that list.

In a recent interview, Caitlin said she "is grateful for the honor and has dreamed of this moment since she was in second grade." Caitlin says she has always believed in herself.

I heard a quote once that said to "Keep dancing even when no one is looking."  Keep working on your dreams and goals and please do not listen to the naysayers.

Yesterday, the Kick Butt Tip of the Day was from actor Jake Gyllenhaal.  His advice was "to never listen to anybody who does not encourage you."

When it comes to believing in yourself, I remember a story about Beatle John Lennon.  John had it rough during school.  He said that he failed at just about everything.  But John never gave up on what was inside.  Later in life, John took those experiences, positive and negative and created some of  the most memorable music ever created.

So, as we close, remember what Caitlyn Clark said, "always believe in yourself."

Saturday was about as ugly a weekend round as you can have of golf at Augusta National Golf Club, but we've made it through.

It looked early on like we'd get some lower scoring today, but that didn't last, as the wind that plagued Friday's play came right back. And with no more rain in the area to soften the greens, all we had was a bunch of professional golfers doing their best just to hold on.

Some held on way better than others. Scottie Scheffler ended up right where we expected him to: on top of the leaderboard. Sure, his round featured a double bogey, and an eagle, but hey, he managed. He finished with a 1-under, 71 on his round, and is 7-under overall.

Tiger Woods, on the other hand, did not manage. He started the day at 1-over, and proceeded to have his worst-ever round at Augusta National, finishing with an 82, and he's now at 11-over.

Lots of names nibbled with moments on top of the leaderboard, including Bryson DeChambeau, Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Ludvig Aberg, and Nicolai Hojgaard. But as Augusta National tends to do, it bit back at nearly all of them.

Morikawa was about the only golfer near the top that didn't look like he was afraid of the course. He did have a bogey on 6, but otherwise managed to hold things together nicely, and gained three shots to put himself in the final group on Sunday with a 69.

DeChambeau went the opposite direction, giving back three shots, and falling to 3-under. He did hit a BEAUTIFUL third shot into the hole on the Par 4 18th to help salvage a frustrating day.

Max Homa quietly chugged along, showing calm through the wildness of the day. He had 17 pars. On a day like Saturday, that's about as good as it gets.

Sunday should prove to be interesting, even if Scheffler does seem a slight bit inevitable for his second Green Jacket. The wind isn't expected to be an issue, so it's already looking great.
