Rhett’s “Beautiful As You” is one of the most infectious hits he’s released to date and will have you up and out of your chair dancing in seconds. Let us also warn you that it pulls at those heartstrings: he wrote it about his beautiful wife, Lauren Akins.
Backstage Country’s Kelly Ford caught up with Rhett this week right before his live television debut of “Beautiful As You,” in Frisco, to get some insight on the song and what’s to come for his fans.
“‘Beautiful As you.’ I wrote this song about a very special woman in my life. Her name is Lauren. This is basically a song about how I completely outkicked my coverage as a husband, just like we all did. It’s up-tempo and fun to listen to. You can dance to it. It’s a fun one,” Rhett told Ford.
Rhett’s “Beautiful As You” will be featured on his forthcoming seventh studio album, due out on August 23, which he says brings him “back to the root” of why he does, in fact, “love to make music.”
“I did this with a with a new batch of producers and a lot of different songwriters. This is the ‘funnest’ album that I’ve made. This is a very, very me album,” Rhett said.
He continued, “If you liked Tangled Up, Life Changes, and Center Point Road, this album is sort of that on steroids to me.”
Rhett’s fans, also known as the “Home Team,” can expect the singer-songwriter to drop a “bunch of songs” this summer leading up to the record, to be announced soon. The new album will follow his 20 Number Ones collection, released in September 2023, celebrating his 20 No. 1 songs.
