South Carolina Small Towns with Great Entertainment
Before we get to highlighting some small towns that have great entertainment, it’s worth discussing some of the other great small town areas in South Carolina. Charleston was recently named one of the most romantic small towns in America. “If you’re a romance-novel aficionado, your idea of charm probably includes opalescent historic mansions, lush gardens and breathtaking architecture,” said the experts at Reader’s Digest, who came out with the study. Also, “Many people come here just to eat at renowned restaurants like Husk, Fig or Charleston Grill or visit Charleston’s many breweries and distilleries.” If romance is your thing, Reader’s Digest also recommends staying at the Courtyard Charleston Historic District. As for a small town to actually move to in South Carolina for life, the experts at Moveto.com recently put the town of Bluffton at the top of their list, which highlights several small towns. They say Bluffton is the final town you get to before “crossing the bridge to Hilton Head Island and is a popular place to settle after living in the Midwest.” They add that “most of the residents are originally from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan,” so it has a very Midwest feel.
Now, onto some other areas in South Carolina known for their entertainment. DiscoverSouthCarolina.com highlights the Upstate area as a great one for entertainment. Specifically, they suggest visitors head to “Gemutlichkeit — Good Spirits, Good Times, Laughter and Goodwill” at the annual Walhalla Oktoberfest in Oconee County. “From polkas to wurst, kraut and strudel, this festival will cater to all of your German cravings,” they state. They also suggest to check out Gaffney‘s Irish Fest and the Heritage Jubilee Festival in Edgefield. Another area with great entertainment is the Lowcountry area. DiscoverSouthCarolina.com explains that some great events include the annual Edisto Christmas Parade, Boat Parade, and Tree Lighting. Visitors can also take in some wine and live music at La Belle Amie Vineyard in Little River. The Vineyard hosts plenty of lively concerts, making it a great pick for the warmer months.
