Lumberton Senior High School and St. Paul's High School JROTC Air Rifle Teams have secured spots at the 2025 Best of the Best Air Rifle Competition in Hickory. The Public Schools of Robeson County announced that both squads earned places among the top-22 schools across five states.

More than 80 teams fought for these limited openings. Getting picked shows what the cadets from both schools can do.

"This accomplishment is a testament to the skill, focus, and leadership that our JROTC programs instill in students," said PSRC Superintendent Freddie Williamson, per The Robesonian. "We are incredibly proud of these cadets for representing the Public Schools of Robeson County with such distinction."

This event draws top JROTC air rifle squads from across the Southeast, where students will test their abilities against the best shooters in the region. Williamson praised the cadets and their instructors for reaching this point.

"The Public Schools of Robeson County congratulates our Lumberton and St. Pauls cadets — and their dedicated instructors — for this remarkable milestone," Williamson said.

Both squads will head to Hickory on Dec. 3 and come back Dec. 4. This overnight trip gives the cadets time to participate in all scheduled matches.

Each program has delivered solid results throughout the qualification rounds, which tested shooters across months of competition. Receiving invitations places Robeson County schools among the finest JROTC air rifle programs spanning five states.
