Cape Fear Valley Health cut the ribbon Monday on a new spine surgery center off Raeford Road in Fayetteville. Patients needing spinal procedures or injury treatment in the Sandhills area can now receive complete care under one roof.

The center allows doctors to help people who once had to seek procedures outside the system. Dr. Derosa moved with his staff to this location to ease the burden on a bigger clinic that was stretched thin.

"Being able to decompress a larger clinic. We moved Dr. Derosa and his staff over here," said Mark Cobb, president of Cape Fear Valley Medical Group, per ABC11. "This really has a concierge-medicine type feel. So, a very personalized experience for the patient. Very much, very much hands-on."

All eight hospitals within the health system will benefit, spanning several counties. Specialized spinal care stays in-network now.

Cobb compared the approach to concierge medicine, where patients get individual attention at each step. From the first visit through recovery, the care team stays involved.

This dedicated center means more room for spine patients throughout the system. Shifting staff here cleared space at other spots while building a hub focused solely on spine work.
