Cape Beard will hold its 14th Pig Pickin' fundraiser on May 16 at Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson. Money goes to the North Carolina Autism Society and the School of Hope of Fayetteville. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m. The address is 3950 Sycamore Dairy Rd in Fayetteville.

Organizers plan to serve more than 750 pounds of pulled pork. Each plate costs $7. The fundraiser will have vendors, live music, two bouncy houses, a children's obstacle course, and a dunk tank.

Since the first Pig Pickin' in 2012, this event has raised over $130,000 for autism support.

Last year's total hit $11,150. Organizers hope to beat that amount this year.

Readers of Up and Coming named the fundraiser "Best Local Fund Raising Event" in 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020. More than 157 people have shown interest in attending this year's gathering.

All proceeds will go to the two benefiting organizations. The North Carolina Autism Society provides resources and support for individuals with autism and their families across the state, while the School of Hope of Fayetteville serves students with special needs in the area.

The event takes place at the Fort Bragg Harley-Davidson dealership location. Attendees can buy BBQ plates and participate in activities throughout the seven-hour event.

Cape Beard has organized the annual fundraiser for 14 consecutive years, donating 100% of the funds raised to autism charities.
