Talkback for Sunday February 4th, 2024 – “The Veteran’s Battlefield” documentary on the epidemic of veteran suicide and the hope and help available for Post Traumatic Stressed troubled Veterans! Crown Complex Ballroom, Thu. Feb. 8 at 5pm!
Today is Sunday, February 4th…the 35th day of the year, 331 remaining in our leap year!
On this date:
February 4th, 1783, Britain’s King George III proclaimed a formal cessation of hostilities in the American Revolutionary War. The United States had won!
6 years later, on February 4th, 1789, electors chose George Washington to be the first president of the United States.
It is said we, as Americans, are blessed to possess all the power in our mind, body and spirit by which to pursue life, liberty and happiness!
While many say strong backs and will power built America, in recent years, thankfully, there’s been as much or more focus on health of our minds….
Since the persistent deployment and redeployment of our all-volunteer services in the last 20 years, there’s been raised concern about suicide prevention in our veteran communities. Realistically, these concerns are valid across all sectors of modern society.
Some call the veteran suicide problem and its solutions by names like “22 a day”, “mission 22”, or “Project Valhalla.” Realistically, the solution of unnecessary suicide is Outreach, Education, Prevention and Treatment… “The Veteran’s Battlefield” is a documentary film showing and exhibition coming to Fayetteville THIS THURSDAY! But this event can help anyone feeling despair with their own lives.
It’s great news! Action toward Outreach, Education, Prevention and treatment making strides right here in Cumberland County and across North Carolina. We’re joined this morning by a group helping to bring an enlightening message to Fayetteville and community THIS COMING THURSDAY, February 8th at 5pm. And anyone and everyone’s invited! It’ll be at the Crown Complex ballroom…with resources for those with questions! Again, Thursday at 5pm. Representing the organization of North Carolina County Commissioners from all 100 Counties is Cumberland County Commission Chair Glenn Adams!
