I can’t believe we are almost through January! One minute it’s the holidays, and the next it feels like we’re halfway through 2023!
This Monday is a fresh little playlist of new and nostalgia.
HARDY recently released his much anticipated album The Mockingbird & The Crow… a perfect blend of exactly what makes him so unique and such a treasure in the music community. This man is capable of more than we can imagine. Not only is he a brilliant writer for other artists, but he can write a damn good country song… OR, rock out and cause a whole crowd to head bang along with him. “Screen” is just one song off this new album, but I almost immediately could envision it live in concert – picture this: instead of everyone taking their phones out and using the flashlights to light up an arena, they put their phones away. Hardy asks you to just be in the moment. Chills.
Gone West is a band that was fairly short-lived. Colbie Caillat left the band after 2 years and after she and ex-fiance/bandmate Justin Young split after a 10-year relationship. Relationships and heartbreak is a majority of why I love this song “What Could’ve Been” so much. The chorus lives rent free in my head and any time it comes on my shuffle I’m belting it in my car. The harmonies are so good, I hope it makes the list of your favorites too.
And we’re ending this Monday playlist with a throwback to Faith Hill’s second single “Piece of My Heart” from her album Take Me As I Am. I grew up listening to Faith Hill and Tim McGraw – they’re like my Country parents. Singing in a hairbrush in my room, having full on concerts and performing for my stuffed animals, THAT is what nostalgia Faith Hill brings when I hear her. Faith’s music just automatically makes me happy.
