Blake Shelton’s “I’ll Name The Dogs” Was Inspired By Josh Thompson’s Wife’s Pregnancy
A year ago, Blake Shelton released his single, “I’ll Name The Dogs,” and the rumor mill immediately started churning that he and Gwen Stefani were either pregnant or secretly married.
Aside from the gossip, the song proved to be a big hit and would later become the country star’s 25th number one!
The song landed in the No.1 spot at the end of 2017, which was a great way for Shelton to end the year.
While fans continued to look for any sign of a ring or baby bump well into 2018, nothing substantial ever surfaced.
Today, the couple is still going strong but at this time, they have no plans to marry or have kids — That we know of, anyway.
But, just because there are no plans in place, it doesn’t mean that Gwen and Blake don’t think about marriage.
In fact, earlier this year, Gwen admitted on ‘Ellen’ she thinks about marrying Blake all the time.
So, there’s still hope Blake and Gwen will eventually tie the knot and have lots of adorable babies.
But back to the inspiration behind “I’ll Name The Dogs.” According to Taste of Country, the song, which was written by Josh Thompson, in addition to other songwriters, was penned while Thompson’s wife was pregnant.
It’s not uncommon for artists to sing a combination of songs they’ve written in addition to songs by other songwriters.
Perhaps, that’s a good thing for the rumor mill to keep in mind next time.
When @blakeshelton released "I'll Name the Dogs" tabloids began speculating he was getting married or @gwenstefani was pregnant. Turns out the song was inspired by a pregnancy. Writer @TheJoshThompson would become a dad soon after finishing it. pic.twitter.com/sRCasI242Y
