Tom Hanks appears as Mister Rogers in the upcoming A Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood, and he recently discovered some interesting news: He’s actually related to Fred Rogers.
Per CNN, the actor discovered they are sixth cousins with the help of Ancestry.com. Ancestry.com made a statement about the information, saying, “Fred Rogers and Tom Hanks are sixth cousins sharing the same 5x great-grandfather … who immigrated from Germany to America in the 18th century.”
Tom was also unaware of the relationship before he took the role.
When he discovered the information, Tom replied, “It all just comes together, you see.”
A Beautiful Day in The Neighborhood premieres on November 22 (Friday).
