Masters Round 2 Suspended Until Saturday, After Trees Fall
The second round of the 2023 Masters has officially been suspended, after trees fell near the 17th hole at Augusta National, and weather conditions worsened.
Masters officials confirmed there were no injuries when the trees fell. The second round will resume at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
“Augusta National Golf Club can confirm that no injuries were reported from three trees that were blown over to the left of the No. 17 tee due to wind,” the Masters said in its official update. “The safety and well-being of everyone attending the Masters Tournament will always be the top priority of the Club, which will continue to closely monitor weather today and through the tournament.”

“The Second Round has been officially suspended for the rest of the day. Play will resume Saturday morning at 8:00 a.m. EDT. Ticket gates will open at 7:00 a.m. EDT as scheduled.”
About half the field – 39 golfers – had not finished their second rounds, with many of those having at least half the round left to play.
Brooks Koepka is the clubhouse leader, as he did finish his second round, and is at 12-under par. Jon Rahm is at 9-under, but had finished only nine holes in his second round. Amateur Sam Bennett is at 8-under, having finished his round earlier in the day.
This is definitely not the last of the weather issues either, as Saturday’s conditions look worse than Friday’s – and it’ll be 30 degrees colder.
