The song itself came about one day when Barrett said she was in her bathtub and received a text message from Luke Combs. He had written “Dance Like No One’s Watching” alongside Emily Weisband and James McNair while his wife, Nicole Combs, was pregnant with their first child.
At the time, the Combs family did not know if they were having a boy or a girl yet, however, ended up welcoming a beautiful baby boy. Barrett’s new single, “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” is about a father and daughter, which you’ll see play out in the moving music video below.
“And so he was like, this won’t make sense for me to sing, but I would love for you to sing it. We didn’t share it with anybody. We just want you to really hear it first and take it into consideration” Barrett told Backstage Country.
She continued, “So I heard it and it was one of those songs the first time I listened through, fell in love with it. I just fell in love with that and called my manager. I was like, I have to cut this song. I love this song.”
Last month, when Barrett announced her new single, “Dance Like No One’s Watching,” she posted on Instagram revealing it is “near and dear to my heart growing up as a Daddy’s girl.” Now, the singer-songwriter and mother of 3, gets to watch her husband, Cade Foehner, with their little girls saying “It’s really something special.”
Barrett’s Chapter & Verse, an album three years in the making, tells the story of Barrett’s current chapter in life as a Christian, a mother, a wife, a songwriter, and an artist. The 14-track collection follows her 2020 platinum debut Goldmine.
