Limited Edition DiGiorno Pizzas Celebrate ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Marvel fans are counting down the days until the release of Deadpool & Wolverine on July 26. In honor of the movie, DiGiorno is releasing new limited-edition frozen pizza flavors that are inspired by the upcoming movie.
“With a slice of chaos and a mouthful of mischief, DiGiorno is bringing the goods straight to pretty, movie-going, pizza-loving pie holes nationwide,” said the frozen pizza makers.
What to expect from the DiGiorno and Deadpool & Wolverine collab?
According to the news release, there will be four kinds of pizzas available at retailers nationwide. One will be The Wade Special. They describe it as a sweet and salty combo made with pineapple and black olives to pay homage to Wade Wilson’s pizza in the first movie.
A chimichanga-inspired pizza, the Gimme Chimi is topped with spicy cumin sauce, beef topping, jalapeno, and cheddar & mozzarella cheeses. A Spicy Wolvie Pie that is “crafted with Wolverine and other meat lovers in mind.” It’s stacked with pepperoni, chorizo, and bacon. Lastly, they have the Maximum Pep made with sliced and diced pepperoni.
Every flavor (except for the Spicy Wolvie Pie) comes with a back-of-the-box bonus. A cut-out Deadpool mask so fans can cosplay as the “Merc with a Mouth” while their pizza bakes. The Wade Special, Gimme Chimi, Spicy Wolvie Pie, and Maximum Pep pizza varieties have a manufacturer’s suggested retail price of $6.49. But prices may vary by retailer.
“DiGiorno is always looking for ways to tap into mainstream culture by pushing culinary boundaries through unique innovations and flavors, from our recent Thanksgiving Pizza to our all-onion ‘cry-pie,’ and we are now introducing our latest, most chaotic pies yet,” said Kimberly Holowiak, Senior Brand Manager for DiGiorno.
In addition to being able to find these four flavors in your frozen pizza aisle, fans can visit DiGiorno.com/deadpoolandwolverine to enter for a chance to win prizes, from Deadpool & Wolverine merch to a pizza party in Los Angeles.
Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine is only in theaters on July 26. World of Reel reported that there never has been an R-rated movie that has opened to $200M, and this movie may just do that. “We don’t even know if it’s a good film, but that doesn’t seem to matter. The current record for an R-rated opening is owned by the first ‘Deadpool’ ($132.4M),” they stated.
The official trailer for the movie was released a month ago by Marvel Entertainment and has over 16 million views on YouTube.
