Kenny Chesney is one country star who can fill a stadium in almost every U.S. city. Last week ( 3/23), he kicked off his “I Go Back Tour” with opener and fellow East Tennessee native Kelsea Ballerini.

Kenny commented on the tour on Instagram in part back when he announced it in November, “No Shoes Nation, I’m so excited to finally announce the #IGoBackTour 2023 with special guest Kelsea Ballerini. ‘I Go Back’ is a song about holding all those things that shaped you very close and keeping them alive any way you can. In 2023, I decided rather than just go repeat what we did on this summer’s stadium tour; I wanted to take this band and these songs to a lot of the cities we played on our way up, call it the I Go Back Tour, and do just that.”

  4. "How Forever Feels" (1998) - Chesney said at the time that he almost didn't get to release the song because Tim McGraw had recorded a version. McGraw decided not to release it, and after Chesney's version hit number-one, McGraw told him "I'm glad you cut it. It just didn't work for me."

"You Had Me from Hello" (1999) – Kenny saw the movie Jerry Maguire and in one of the film's most memorable scenes at the end of the movie, Tom Cruise's title character gives out a heartfelt talk to Renée Zellweger's character, tearfully saying, "You had me at 'hello.'" Chesney liked that line and decided to write a song based on it.

  1. "The Tin Man" (1994) – The ballad is about a brokenhearted man who wishes that he were the Tin Woodman so that he "wouldn't have a heart" and thus not feel the emotions that he is feeling.
