Luke Combs Shares Story Behind “Hurricane”
Every song has a story and Luke Combs is telling the one behind his two-week No. 1 “Hurricane.”
It all starts with his phone. “I keep titles in my phone and look at them from time to time,” he explains in a YouTube video posted over the weekend by the Grand Ole Opry. “It was one of those things where a buddy was telling me how he’d recently broken up with someone and he was worried about going out and running into her at the bar. And I think we’ve all had that kind awkward moment where you run into an ex and it’s super weird, so we tried to capture that essence in the song.”
There’s more, though. Watch Luke explain how the song led to his record deal, which of course led to breakout success with a No. 1. “It was kind of an awesome everything-fell-into-place scenario for me,” he says.
