Hurricane Harvey: Chris Young Steps Up In A Big Way
When Chris Young realized the toll Hurricane Harvey would ultimately inflict in Texas, he went right to work.
The “I’m Comin’ Over” singer immediately set up a GoFundMe campaign to support American Red Cross relief efforts, among others. “I have friends and family there and I’m almost certain my house down there may have to be torn down as it was in one of the areas that was hardest hit by winds and flooding,” the page reads. “But that’s the least of my concerns. I’m worried about the people there – my friends, family and neighbors – and I want to help.”

The superstar is putting his money where his mouth is by donating $100,000 to the cause, too. “Love you guys,” he continues. “And every little bit helps. In times like these, you turn to your friends to help those in need and that’s exactly what I’m doing. I hope you’ll donate. And Texas, we love you.”
Chris has a connection to Texas that goes beyond family. He was a regular performer at a long list of honky tonks in the state early in his career, including one near Dallas where he was working when he auditioned for the TV singing competition Nashville Star in 2006. He won, of course, and signed with RCA Records shortly thereafter.
