Brett Young Explains The Concept Behind His “Like I Loved You” Video
Brett Young‘s new song “Like I Loved You” is all about shutting down the idea of remaining friends after a breakup, and he tells the story as much with the video as with the song.
The “Like I Loved You” video is partially set in a mansion high in the Hollywood Hills. “So you kind of see me going through a breakup and kind of dealing with it and it’s just focused in two spaces,” he says through his record label. “It’s in that one home up in the hills with views of the city, very dark and gray, and then in a very small little dark [bar] … almost like [an] old kind of crooner bar called the Roger Room in Los Angeles.

“We wanted to make sure the story didn’t get lost because it’s so specific,” Brett continues. “And so I got the opportunity to work with a director that did my first music video 12 years ago. I always wanted to throw his name back in the hat and we did this time and his treatment was just absolutely our favorite. He’s so good with visuals and I’m excited about it. I think it turned out really cool.”
