Miranda Lambert Gets Real For Front And Center
Miranda Lambert loves songwriters, which isn’t surprising considering that she is one. The superstar celebrated the craft in a big way in Nashville recently and even took time to reflect the on the challenging nature of her personal life over the last couple of years.
Miranda taped an installment of PBS’ Front And Center as part of the CMA Songwriters Series September 19th. Joining the ACM Female Vocalist of the Year were 14 songwriters who appeared on her critically acclaimed album The Weight Of These Wings. “It’s very much the story of my last couple of years and all the things you go through in life,” she explained of the project, according to The Tennessean. “Thank you to all of the songwriters for going down this road with me and spending your time on my journey.”
“Vice”
Miranda talked at one point about finding comfort in more than one Nashville bar. The experiences eventually turned into the song “Vice.” Songwriter Shane McAnally was struck by how open and honest she was during the writing process. “I had to sort of remind myself how important these kinds of songs and these kinds of moments [are],” he said of the superstar, who showed up to the session dragging a cooler of drinks. “I feel like you took your heart out of your chest and put it on the table…with this vulnerability, let’s do this, let’s talk about this, let’s write a song. I remember I kept looking at you and I kept saying, ‘You’re not going to say that.’ And you go, ‘Yeah, I will.’ With every line I was, ‘You’re not going to say that.’ I don’t think you had even gotten into the cooler yet!”
