Brad Paisley Pays Tribute to Barbara and George H.W. Bush on Instagram

Brad Paisley played Rodeo Houston this week and it tugged at his heart because he missed two very special people he saw while there each year, former President George H.W. Bush and former First Lady Barbara Bush who both passed away in 2018.

Paisley posted to instagram, “Every year at @rodeohouston I would have lunch with 2 of my very, very dear friends before they would go to the big event. My heart was heavy this year thinking they wouldn’t be there. Turns out, I guess they were. Susan Terry said it best. Well done @rodeohouston, well done. #georgeandbarbarabush #missyou”

The Bushes were huge country music fans who attended the Rodeo Houston event each year and even while the Sr. Bush was President the couple attended the CMA Awards back in 1991 and quipped to Entertainment Weekly at the time, “When I need a little free advice about Saddam [Hussein], I turn to country music.”

Nancy Brooks has been working in the country music industry for almost 30 years. She has interviewed pretty much any country star you can think of. In the late 1990s, she started working with Dolly Parton. And yes, Nancy reports that Parton is as sweet as you would think. She loves her life in country music and has been backstage at every CMA Awards show since the late 1990s. Many of her stories are from her one-on-one interviews. She was there at the beginning of the incredible careers of many music superstars today, including Taylor Swift, Shania Twain, and Blake Shelton, and has interviewed them multiple times throughout the years.
