Mark your calendar: this Saturday night at 8 pm ET, Luke Bryan is hosting a special a three-hour show that will air on WKML: “BMI Presents: A Salute To The Songwriters – Benefiting The MusiCares COVID 19 Relief Fund.”
Dallas Davidson and Rhett Akins are among the writers who will be featured; they are two of Nashville’s most prolific songwriters and have written a couple of big hits for Luke Bryan including “Kick The Dust Up,” which they wrote with Luke.
Akins also wrote Bryan’s “Huntin’ Fishin’ Lovin’ Every Day” as well as “When She Says Baby” for Jason Aldean and “Star of the Show” for his son Thomas Rhett.
Rhett Akins is actually Thomas Rhett Akins Sr. and was signed to Decca Records between 1994 and 1997, where he released two albums for that label (1995’s A Thousand Memories and 1996’s Somebody New), followed by 1998’s What Livin’s All About on MCA Nashville.
He enjoyed his biggest hits as an artist in 1995 with “That Ain’t My Truck” and “Don’t Get Me Started” which went to number one on the country charts.
Dallas Davidson, who never recorded as an artist, co-wrote Blake Shelton’s “Boys ‘Round Here” as well as Trace Adkins’ “Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” and Luke Bryan’s “Country Girl (Shake It For Me).”
Davidson received the 2012 ACM Songwriter of the Year.
Both Akins and Davidson are members of the Peach Pickers, which is an American songwriter team, composed of Rhett Akins, Dallas Davidson, and Ben Hayslip.
