Eric Church Says ‘Not Really Winners’ In A Pandemic Award Show
Eric Church is up for three Academy of Country Music Awards (including Entertainer of the Year) in 2021 and is the reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, but he says that in a year marred by a pandemic, the award winners are not necessarily “winners.”
Eric told us backstage after winning the CMA’s biggest award — Entertainer of the Year — in November, “There’s not really been winners this year. I mean, nobody’s played. Nobody’s done the things we normally do.”
He added, “It’s been a year, to me, about losses. It’s about loss of life. It’s about loss of education for your kids. It’s about loss of time playing. It’s been a year of managing those losses.”
Church will be releasing a triple album in April called Heart & Soul. He just released a new song from here the project called “Never Break Heart.”
