Lil Nas X Covers Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene’: Watch Now
Lil Nash X covered Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” during a performance on England’s BBC this week. He was performing songs from his new album Montero, which was released on Friday.
While it’s not on his new album, Lil Nas X performed the 1973 country classic in a sincere growl which reverberated from the bejeweled microphone and its flower-covered stand and he stayed true to Parton’s original recording.
He told the BBC according to Billboard, “This song is kind of like beautifully sad, you know? I like the little twang, like the country twang in it. So I was like, ‘Lemme try this out.'”
